The beach in Rowy is a wide, sandy stretch of the Baltic shore between the dunes and pine forest, about 12 minutes on foot from our places. The fishing harbour splits it into a western part (Rowy Zachód) and an eastern part (Rowy Wschód); in summer, from 1 July to 31 August, two lifeguarded bathing areas are in operation. The dog beach is signposted about 500 metres west of the main access path.
How to reach the beach and where the access paths are
The beach runs the length of the village. In the middle the river Łupawa flows into the Baltic, and the fishing harbour splits the shore into a western and an eastern part. The main access path leads in from ul. Bałtycka and puts you about 12 minutes of gentle walking from the sea. You can also cycle down, though you cover the last stretch through the dunes on foot. The dunes are protected, so we only come down to the beach by the marked crossings, without cutting through the vegetation to save time. It is the same rule that keeps the shore in Rowy looking as wild as it does.
Parking
When you stay with us, you park for free at the property and walk to the beach, so you skip the seasonal hunt for a space near the access paths. It is one of those things that makes a difference at the height of summer: the car stays by the lodge, and you head straight down to the water.
Lifeguarded bathing areas and safety
In season, from 1 July to 31 August, two lifeguarded bathing areas are in operation: Rowy Zachód and Rowy Wschód. They are your best choice if you are coming with children. Outside the lifeguards' hours and out of season the beach is unguarded, so it is worth taking care, especially when the sea is rough and the wind is blowing off the land.
The dog beach in Rowy
The dog beach is signposted, about 500 metres west of the main access path. Out of season and in the evenings, once the bathing areas have closed, the whole beach is yours. Dogs on a lead, but with no other restrictions. With us, dogs are welcome at all our properties, and half of the pet fee goes to an animal shelter.
The beach and Słowiński National Park
The eastern side of the beach borders Słowiński National Park. The further you go from the harbour, the quieter and wilder it gets: fewer people, more dunes and pine forest. It is the loveliest part of the shore for a long walk, but the park's rules apply here, so we keep to the marked paths and leave no trace behind us. When to come and where it is quietest
It can be quiet even in August; you just need to move away from the bathing areas. In the middle of the day in July and August the most people gather by the main access paths; in the morning, in the evening and in May, June and September the beach can be almost empty. It is calmest on the eastern side, towards the park. After storms it is worth walking the shore in search of amber, and in the evening staying on for the sunset over the Baltic.
