A walking desert by the Baltic. A 30-metre dune that drifts a few metres each year. The approach is through the forest and former military grounds.

A UNESCO biosphere reserve. Shifting dunes, two coastal lakes, Baltic forest, and hundreds of bird species. The region's flagship attraction.

Poland's eighth-largest lake - shallow, wide open, inside Słowiński National Park. The viewing platform is in Gardna Wielka; the small Kamienna Island in the middle is a strict bird-breeding reserve.

NatureCzołpino Lighthouse
A red brick lighthouse from 1875, tucked a kilometre inland on a wooded dune. A secret rocket base hid it from visitors until 1994. Today, the climb up rewards you with a view of the shifting dunes, Lake Łebsko, and the Baltic.
CultureKluki Open-Air Museum
An open-air museum inside a working village on Lake Łebsko - twenty Slovincian timber-frame cottages record the life of a Pomeranian people who no longer exist. Among the exhibits: klumpy, wooden shoes for horses so they wouldn't sink into the peat.
NatureRowokół
The highest point on the Słowiński coast - 115 metres shaped like a truncated cone, once a sacred mountain to the Slovincians. From the 20-metre tower at the top you can see both park lakes, the Baltic, and the Czołpino lighthouse.
NatureLake Łebsko
Poland's third largest lake and the biggest coastal one - 71 km² of water averaging a metre and a half deep, separated from the Baltic only by a strip of shifting dunes. The clearest view is from the tower at Kluki, or from the top of Rowokół hill.
ActivityRowy Harbour
Eight Rowy-registered fishing cutters moor at the mouth of the Łupawa. On good days the crews sell the catch straight off the deck - few Polish ports still do this.
ActivityZoo Safari Charlotta
A zoo, a seal house with five Baltic grey seals, and a water safari by boat - all on the grounds of a single complex in Strzelinko. Each attraction is ticketed separately, so plan the family budget before you arrive.
TownUstka
A working fishing port and spa town at the mouth of the Słupia. The red-brick 1892 lighthouse, the swinging pedestrian bridge, the unfinished German breakwater that was meant to shield a great port and now serves anglers.
TownSłupsk
A regional city holding the world's largest Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz collection in the White Granary. Next to it, the 16th-century Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes and a medieval penitence stone from 1387 by the museum entrance.
ActivityCycling Routes from Rowy
EuroVelo 10 leaves Rowy in both directions: 33 km on asphalt to Ustka, 60 km through the national park to Łeba. The local classic is the 30-kilometre loop around Lake Gardno.
FoodSmoked Fish in Rowy
Row-Ryb on ul. Bursztynowa cold-smokes long-matured salmon using the so-called rare-smoke method in brick ovens. In season, fresh-smoked fish is also sold at stalls by the harbour.
